Hershey Tour - June 19, 2012

In the Chocolate Lab of The Hershey Story Museum, we prepped for making our own versions of smores. John Bender, class of 60, was our personal guide through the museum. We were SO stylish in our hairnets and aprons. A 3-D mural of Mr. Hershey & students from the Milton Hershey School adorns the lobby of the museum. Class of 60 members on the tour. Our group of 25 started the day with the Hershey Trolley Works tour.

We welcome the newest alumni -- the Class of 2011! The Alumni Association purchased a display case. It sits in the aud/gym lobby, next to the Class of 2006 ram. Our Veterans Memorial will be located here. Check back for the After photo upon completion! Alyssa Thomas, basketball record-setter for CD. Marshall Peppelman, wrestling champ. These hang in the auditorium/gymnasium lobby of the high school. Future site of the Veterans Memorial.

Marty fondly remembers his days as one of Ken Peiffers thespians at CD. Martys dinner at the Hoachlander home was like a mini-CDHSAA meeting. All 10 people present are Lifetime Members.! Listening to Martys fascinating NASCAR stories over dinner. Marty also spoke at the Colonial Park Rotary Club meeting on Aug. 4 as a guest of Rotary President Jeff Hoachlander 74 and Debbie Groff Hoachlander 72. ESPN play-by-play NASCAR announcer, Marty Reid, aka Marty Klingeman 71, had dinner with AJ Dewey 04 and retired CD teacher Ken Peiffer at the Hoachlander residence Aug. 4, 2010 Jeff Hoachlander introduces Marty to the Colonial Park Rotary Club.

Open House at the former high school building

The girls shower room. The girls locker room. The former wrestling gym, near the back entrance, is now a library. This is the entrance to the new office, just inside the front doors. Looking down the hall into what used to be the cafeteria. Classrooms & lavs were built on the left side, cubbies on the right are where students store their books during lunch. The small auditorium is behind the wall of cubbies. The main lobby outside the large auditorium. The wall to the right side is where the large glass showcase used to hang. Retired teacher Ken Peiffer and Betty Blain Miller 63 greet attendees at our table. The newly renovated auditorium is beautiful. New everything! This is where the main office used to be. The CDHSAA provided chips, pretzels, veggies & dip to all. The Alumni Welcome Booth greets our CD grads as they enter the game. Tim Zuna, 95, a second-generation CD grad. His mother was Sue Sallai Zuna, 71. Angie Herrold Baker, 68 & Janice Wragg, wife of Herb Wragg, 58 Bev Davidson Bosak, 62, and classmates who were in town for their 45th Reunion Weekend.

Nance Welch 62 & Abner Smith 60 reminisce at the Homecoming Game. The Alumni Committee greets returning graduate Diane Miller Pattison 73. All alumni were given recognition ribbons to wear at the game. The Alumni Welcome Booth is open for business at Landis Field! The life of the party! John Gallup, Joe Lindsey, and Jeff Hoachlander 74 (left to right). Everyone found someone they knew from high school. Gilligans was a great place for our gathering. The Alumni Assoc. treated everyone to veggie trays, chips and pretzels. The Alumni Welcoming Committee - Cynthia Parrish Smith 76, Debbie Groff Hoachlander 72, Jan Gardner Suszko 69, and Betty Blain Miller 63. The annual CDHS Faculty Tailgate. Our registration table at the After-Party at Gilligans Restaurant sold Discount Cards and 50/50 tickets. Some of CDs cheerleaders and their families joined the celebration too. Believe it or not, we had people come in from Colorado for Homecoming! Rich Irish 76 (red stripped shirt) and wife, Angela had a great time at Gilligans after the game.

Train Trip to Pittsburgh, July 2013

While waiting for the Duck Boat Tour on Tuesday morning, we did a little sightseeing on the Pittsburgh waterfront. Its no wonder that Pittsburgh was the filming location for one of the Batman movies - doesnt this look like Gotham City? Heinze Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers and PITT Panthers. We bumped into 94 grad Maureen Kintzer, who was visiting Pittsburgh from her current home in Brazil. Lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. Jack Agnew 65 takes the helm of the duck boat on the river.

THANK YOU to our generous sponsors! The new Ram Mobile?????? The CDHSAA Welcome Booth greets our CD fans at this years East game. We provided 1600 pom-poms and none were left. Fans were under the watchful eye of our security team. Recent grads still have the Ram Spirit! The CD Security Detail! Everyone loved their pom-poms. Another score and more cheering! A sea of green as the Rams scored a touchdown! Even the community members got into the act! Hi Lee & Betty! The morning after!

Time Capsule Opening

The 1954 Student Planning Committee had members from the former township high schools that merged into CDHS. The new cornerstone was installed by Bruce Wevodau 69, and it looks great! Items which were placed inside the Time Capsule in March 1955, documenting the creation of the Central Dauphin Joint Schools and Central Dauphin High School. Mike Zorek,74 grad & Masonry Instructor at DCTech, begins the work. Power tools are wonderful! It was a hot day, and a tough job! Mike had lots of encouragement from the 50th Anniv. Committee though. Jan Gardner Suszko,69, Robin Mueser-Robertson,76, & Debbie Groff Hoachlander,72, unveil the hidden treasurers. Mike & Bruce now had to figure out how to get inside the sealed copper container. The Alumni Assoc. has recently purchased a new cornerstone to replace the original. The contents will be reinterred on the new high school campus. At last, the capsule is located! A little help from Bruce Wevodau, 69, to speed things along.

50th Anniversary Celebration

The Memorabilia Display has some GREAT items in it! Did someone call the Three Stooges? Lifetouch Photographers took a free picture of everyone to include in the Reunion Book. The big top tent was 40 X 160, and seated 600 for dinner. Herb Wragg, Class of 58, lends a hand with moving supplies and drinks from the school cafeteria to the football field. The hot air balloon prepares to lift off. Cars.... Megaphone Mans leather varsity jacket and his original megaphone were also part of the celebration & Memorabilia Display. More food! Brickers French Fries, Mr. Scoopy Ice Cream, and pizza (from Central Dauphin Pizza Shop, of course!) The Chicken Nazi (Jeff Hoachlander, Class of 74, far right) assembles his team to feed the masses. All went smoothly, and the crowd loved the meal. Millers Bar-B-Que of York grilled 900 chickens & baked potatoes.
